Another Glitter Gradient... Barney style...

Winnie wanted me to do her nails, too, now that I'm back in Taiwan! So I went with a glitter gradient, with darker colors... emerald green and magenta-purplish glitter. Came out beautifully!... Until I realized the colors looked so Barney =__=.

There's actually a little trick to this... I couldn't just dab magenta glitter on, because it was too light. If I only used glitter polish, I would need huge globs of it! And I wanted the tip to be a pretty solid purple, because from far away, what does emerald green and magenta look like blended together? Nasty grayish? I'm not sure. But I used a solid magenta polish at the tip, kind of like a donut french tip (press here). It can be messy, but don't make it a straight line. That would be too obvious. So after the solid magenta tip dries, dab on the glitter and it will look fantabulous!

Show me what you did in the comments below! I want to see what kind of colors you can come up with ;D always welcome to suggestion and inspiration!!

The colors I used:
GR503 in the Wide Nails collection- The Face Shop
The sticker with the name of the magenta is gone! But it's from Sephora by OPI. Comment if you'd like a picture of it!
Summer Purple (繽紛夏日紫)- IEI Nail Color

Light Glitter Gradient

I don't think I've ever used such few colors for a nail design... and it took a while to get used to this, but I absolutely love it now! All it took were 2 glitter polishes and a sponge. Plus my OPI Nail Envy base coat and Seche Vite top coat of course :).

Anyhow, I definitely recommend this! It somehow matches almost every outfit, since the magenta glitter is a slightly colder color, giving it a more wintery feel to it, while the orange eases the gradient into my natural nail color, and it's a warm color, too. This is a great way to paint a pretty and easy everyday mani, and plus it's always good to practice doing gradients. AND another thing, if you use glitter, there is almost no chance of messing up, because while solid color is hard to fix if its too light or too clumpy or the color blend is in the wrong place, glitter can even be wiped off and refilled for your (OCD) perfectionist self!
