TOTORO NAILS

My sister thought of the idea, so I copied her, but she doesn't have a blog, so can't credit her (yet). I used a greenish gray instead of just gray, and I really liked that the green-ness made the color a bit lighter and looked better with my skin tone :)

The hardest part would have to be the eyes, I think, because when I have to do a lot of precise dots, my hand starts shaking! Plus the eyes can't be too close or too far! Anyhow, hope you like this design and try it out ^~^.

Pond Themed Nails: Frogs and Flies and Snails and Dragonflies!

Apple's nails!! Usually, only warm colors like pink, orange, nude, etc look good with her skin tone, but we found that this blue looked adorable on her! We started off the idea with just a frog, then a fly as food, then snails, and the dragonfly just came out randomly. Anyhow, this design was super fun!

Pinky: Dragonfly! I used a dark blue and small sized dotter to make the body, then a slightly thicker striping brush and used four strokes for the wings.
Ring: Just some moss :) Simplicity.
Middle: Froggy head made with China Glaze's For Audrey. Next time I want to use one of those pop out eyes that you can stick on for the frog's eye! The kind that when you shake, the black dot moves around yaknow?
Index: tongue wrapping around the fly...

Index and Middle: Snails love :) I remember this was made with Rosy Red for the shell and a dark purple by Revlon for the lines, and then a peach by Revlon that smells like peaches
Ring: more moss
Pinky: Dragonfly

Apple with her nails that coincidentally match her cardigan!! Wish I had her type of skin tone so that I looked as good in that blue :)
BTW CREDITS FOR THAT BLUE TO SERENA MY WIFEY she got it for me when she visited the states :)

Winnie the Pooh Artsy Nails!

This design was SO FUN TO DRAW. Monica, Kelly, and I planned it together, and when we searched up pics, we saw hat some people drew heads, some drew bodies. how cute would it be if we could do both? ;) So here they are, Winnie, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet! but sorry guys, no arms legs tails.
The most challenging one would probably be Tigger, because his design is a bit more complicated, and the proportions matter more in his design. Piglet was easy, and Winnie was okay, but be careful! Don't make the triangle nose too big like I did TT.TT

I couldn't fit in Eeyore's tail, but I really wanted to draw a bow for him, so we made it like a little bowtie.

Honeybees on the thumb! complete with dotted paths and flowers for pollen :)

And here's Kelly! With her bright shiny manicure that hopefully dried quickly!

Monica's Nails

Daisies on nude! Never gets old, pretty much as timeless as French Manis. These are Monica's nails! and I love her nail polish! The base coat is hers, and it's peel-able. We were joking around and she said that if she can somehow peel a whole entire piece off, she'll send me a pic! It would be pretty cool if it worked.. and knowing me, I'd go out immediately to buy some peel-able polish to try it out myself.
Okay back to the mani. As you can see, not all the daisies are white! There are yellow ones, peach ones, glitter ones, and red ones, because making them all white for every nail would be a little overdrawn, so by splitting up the colors, it looks more delicate and intricate I guess?

And here's Monica! I worked with her for a large part of my internship, and she always made these super neat diagrams that made understanding so much easier. As a scribbler who always writes extra extra notes on the side of everything, I aspire to one day be as neat as her!

Zi Hui's Nails

Aw I love this :). Zi Hui and Apple chose the colors together I think, so the next day, I just painted on the daisies! Her nail shape is so adorbs and the white flowers are so innocent and cute on top!

Here's Zi Hui! Told you the nails fits her look :)

French + Cartoon Nails

One of the highlights of my 2 weeks of interning was bringing in nail polish to do everyone's nails! It's great practice for me, since they're all so creative, with colors and designs, so it kind of pushes me to the max in concentrating and keeping my brush steady. Plus, proportions are not my thing.
For April, she asked for something cute and cartoony to show her nieces and nephews. So of course, the optimum choices are Spongebob and Adventure Time! However, she's starting a new job in a few days, so for her dominant hand, we did a glittery french mani, so when she shakes someone's hand or takes out a pen to write something, her nails won't be so conspicuous! :)
Similar to the Skinny French Nails I did earlier this month. I really love this base color because it's the perfect color for any skin tone, plus glitter makes everything betterrrrrrr.

The cartoons part! Spongebob was so much harder than I thought! I had to first draw big black dots for the eyes, then white on top, then blue for the pupils and black again for the center. So 7 layers of polish in all for the eyes... it looked like they were popping out!!
Patrick's a bit small, so when I tried drawing the eyes, I realized that there wasn't enough room, so poor Patrick has no mouth!
Finn and Jake were fun to draw, although I don't think I improved much from painting this on Winnie's nails here.

Closeup for Spongebob

Hi April (:

The Hello Kitty Sticker Experiment Nails

The reason for this being an "experiment" is that I never use stickers and I don't really like Hello Kitty. However, the stickers were too cute and they glow in the dark! And the rose the ROSE. Adorable.

I felt like using too much pink would take attention away from the stickers and using too much glitter would be overwhelming in cuteness. But maybe it would look better with other colors. Any suggestions?

Skinny French Nails

I personally think this looks better, especially if you're doing a French mani on your natural nails. The thin white tip makes your nails look longer and it looks quite elegant :) Plus, it's a lot easier to paint on!

Please comment if you would like the polish names! The white's from OPI, but the nude glitter is hidden somewhere in my little freezer box.

In Celebration of Going to Club Med Bintan

How do you prep for something that you know will be absolutely amazing? I channel my excitement to nail polish :) If I didn't, I'd just be a hyperactive bouncy ball.

Initially, I ended my nail art with a few beachy oceany and safari-ish gradients with an elephant split on two nails.

Here's a closeup. The elephant outline was harder than I thought... but I like how the green gradient turned out. It isn't perfectly smooth, so it kind of looks like you're staring out into the forest without your glasses.

Closeup on the elephant. Is it hard to tell that it's an elephant? Btw, we didn't go ride elephants, because we didn't want to leave the resort. That's how nice the resort was :) Also the trip out to the elephant park was pretty pricey and insurance didn't cover us.

The gradients looked like it was missing something, so I used a shiny white from The Face Shop to draw some subtle decorative swirls on it.

A few photos of our trip :) I went with 5 other friends. I didn't go alone on my senior trip =__= but these are only of me because I didn't ask for their permission to put up photos of them.

See my nails? Bars everywhere. Mocktails ftw.

Trapeze! Highlight of the trip, seriously. It was so scary but exciting at the same time, and oh look there's Danny, one of my favorite GOs hanging out in the back (:

The massage room. Honeymoon suite with my wifey ;)

And the view from the massage room. Yeah. Be jealous.

My happy after-massage face :D After the massage, they brought us to this outdoors room and gave us tea to let us relax before we left!

The beautiful beautiful private beach.

On our last night, there was a trapeze show, and all of the tables and food were moved outside for us to enjoy dinner at the pool while watching the show. The perfect ending.

We couldn't stand leaving, so we stopped by the beach the next morning.

Sighh just looking at these photos make me want to go back!

Adventure Time Nails

I REGRET NOT TAKING MORE PHOTOS. But I painted this right after I left Taiwan to go on my senior trip to Bintan Island (it was beautiful, wonderful, amazing, all of those good words) and so I didn't have much time to camwhore my sister's nails. So all I have is this slightly blurry photo with Princess smackdab in the front and poor Jake and Finn and the snail that appears every episode looking shaky. Also, just keep in mind that this was before I cleaned all the excess polish on the cuticles/edges of fingers off!

Middle: Jake
Ring: Finn
Pinky: Snail

Stained Glass French Tip Nails

So this was a hard one to come up with a name for. My mom thought of a stained glass when she saw it, but the "stained glass" only appears on the tip, like a french tip, so there you go! This one isn't too hard, but you might want to practice drawing lines! (Yeah, I know, I need some practice too.)
The key to this design is really just choosing colors! I love teal, so I always go with teal, since I have the widest selection of blues and greens, and the white just made the colors pop a little. Enjoy the tutorial :)

1. Choose some base colors that match! Don't be afraid to take a risk, because you can MAKE the colors match by altering the french tip.. or maybe it'll look good clashy. Don't forget the base coat to protect your nails, then put on the base color, then draw some black lines across. If they're messy, it's okay, because  you get a second chance later when you go over them again in step 3.
2. Use the colors that you used for base colors + some other colors for the glass part of the "stained glass". I prefer using brighter colors, so I added in yellow and mint green.
3. Redraw the horizontal black line, try to be as straight as possible! And draw in vertical lines to straighten out the colors.
4. Draw a fun design on your ring finger! Of it you want to do stained glass tips for all of them, do that!
5. LET IT DRY, then use top coat. Sech Vite <3 smoothed out all the bumps. But I did it too early, so the black got smudged :( Guys, learn from my mistakes.

Please comment below if you want any specific names of polishes :)
hint hint: if your brush isn't thin enough, cut off some of the bristles on the side!

Tiffy's Prom Nails

Somehow, we finished under 30 minutes! I used Revlon for the blue base and a silver polish I got at Watson's; a nice and simple to match Tiffany's dress and jewelry for prom. On each finger, there are 2 feathery lines and a silver flower with a blue glitter for the middle. the blue glitter is from The Face Shop. On the thumb, I put a little twist on it, as you can see (:.

Tiffy, your nails are so small so qq!

with the whole outfit :)
^ Allll creds to... ionno Tiff's mom?

I just had to add this in, too cute, and credits to Daryl Tong!

Daisies on Nude and Gold Polish

My favorite flowers are blue daisies, but white daisies and pretty too! This is kind of a mature look, especially since the ruddish nude color + nude just produces that kind of feel to it, but the daisies bring them back to life! and all you need is a small dotter and some normal cheapo striper brushes. Hinthint-winkwink-nudgenudge: Try cutting some of the hairs off the brush to make it thinner, if you think it's too thick

Teal and Magenta set of fingernails and toenails

Simple, just a stripe but they're super cute! Makes you look twice and sort of go like wtf? My sister thought my nails cracked in half =__=

I love gradients.

Last Spring Fair

These are the nail art designs I prepared to paint for the kids at Spring Fair. Surprisingly, the biggest challenge was not keeping the still. It was finding a way to paint long bunny ears on tiny tiny nails!

So Cute B)

While the kids are waiting for you to paint the other hand, they might lean over and their heads might accidentally cover their nails. Or they might fidget and their other hand gets ruined. So genius Heejo told them to blow lightly on their nails!

I've had these customers every fair!! Love them :) They grew up so much!! The older sister had mint green with brown bears and the little sister had strawberries (again~)

Her twin is right behind her!!! This girl has the most beautiful eyes, I swear.

Look at this cute!!! How could you resist!!! She and the girl on the photo right before this are sisters!!! What a freaking beautiful family. I told their mom that her kids were beautiful hahaha don't know if she was creeped out or flattered...

Tina's first customer, I believe! Sososo cute, and of course, the nails turned out great because Tina is an awesome artist (+perfectionist!)

I'm going to miss Spring Fair so much!! Even though we're always swamped and many of my polishes and brushes are ruined by the end of the day, getting to interact with little kids and see them happily wave goodbye while protecting their freshly painted nails is ALL WORTH IT. Makes me want to open up a kiddie salon actually!
